Six months ago Sadhana Forest donated 15 highly efficient rocket stoves to local families who have a baby under 6 months old. The stoves use 90% less wood fuel than an open fire, and produce almost no smoke. This means that they are more economical, less polluting and better for the health.
We were delighted to see one of these stoves being used in Thiruchitrambalam village this week while on our weekly Eco-Cycle Yatra. The family were happy to show us what they were cooking for dinner which smelled delicious!
Although this is small gesture to the villages surrounding Sadhana Forest, it is an important part of our outreach work, building good relations with our neighbours and encouraging methods of sustainable living.
