The Eco Film on Friday, February 12th: Our Seeds

The movie will be introduced via Skype by ecologist Cheze Malaika from Byron Bay, Australia.

Genre: Documentary. Directors: Michel and Jude Fanton. Australia, 2008. 57 minutes.

The film celebrates the keepers of the seed, the farmers and gardeners who preserve and share the source of our diverse food heritage.  Filmed across eleven countries with twenty tribal groups, Our Seeds shows that common threats to food quality and health have local solutions. This documentary highlights the diversity of plants, empiric seed saving practices and diverse farming cultures around the world. It explores the relationship between traditional biodiversity and traditional culture in the wide-ranging locations and shows that there are the same problems and solutions in each of them.
