This was an exciting week for the Green Kindergarten project, as the children are beginning to recognize us and feel more comfortable playing and interacting with us. Also, as the project is growing the team is expanding and on Monday we brought the volunteers from Children’s Land along with us! The children were able to play the instruments they had made last week along with some instruments from Children’s Land. We all sat outside in the shade, playing with the maracas, rain-sticks and coconut shells while singing songs led by Anna. Before leaving we made sure to invite all of the children to come to Sadhana Forest’s Children’s Land along with their families and their teacher this Saturday.

Linking up to another Sadhana project this week, our Eco-Cycle Yatra group visited Trichitambalam village for jewellery making and non-competitive games. Sadhana volunteers were able to spend even more time with the children from the Kindergarten and meet some of their families. It is so wonderful to see our Sadhana projects overlapping and to participate in activities with the communities surrounding us.

Also, this week at the kindergarten, the second coat of paint was applied both inside and outside of the building finishing up the paint job and creating a bright and warm environment for the children.

Now our Sadhana permaculture group is coming together to establish a plan for the garden, incorporating the ideas of the children in order to create an outside space in which the children feel comfortable and happy. The design will hopefully be ready by next week so we can start working with the children to make it happen! We are so excited for the upcoming weeks of working with the children to develop the garden and the relationship between Sadhana and the community as the children become more familiar with us!
