During the past month and a half, our Forest team has been working through the winter monsoon, which arrived late and brought very strong rains.

The downpour provided our Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest trees with much needed water. While work continued through the clouds and rain, the monsoon energy changed much of our day to day lives in Sadhana.

The monsoon also signifies the start of the planting season. 1,000 new seedlings arrived ready to spread their roots with 1,000 more that were waiting in our nursery. Bunds (small water conservation embankments) were tested by the strong rains and there were days where our bicycle power system was needed to generate current due to lack of solar energy.

The colors of the forest were drenched in a new kind of green after the quenching rains. We also had the largest number of monsoon season volunteers in the history of Sadhana! We were happy to welcome 5 families during this time. The past month has been a very special time for the trees, for our community and for all the life that comes from the rain.
