Encounters at the End of the World

Our next Eco Film on Friday, August 3rd will be Encounters at the End of the World.

Genre: Documentary – 101 minutes, 2007. Werner Herzog. English, USA

Welcome to Antarctica, like you’ve never experienced it. Acclaimed German filmmaker Werner Herzog (Fitzcarraldo, Grizzly Man) heads off to the South Pole to meet some remarkable individuals who have chosen to live in the most hostile, barren and alien environment on the planet. Stating that this won’t be just another Antarctica film about “fluffy penguins”, he takes us on a journey that showcases the otherworldly beauty of the continent where life meets its boundaries and where researchers are pushing the frontiers of science. The film includes some amazing underwater footage with captivating images and sounds of the Antarctic sea life, and it explores, with equal interest, the wild life and the humans that live on the edge of the world.
