[...] Sadhana Forest Project Sadhana Forest is a re-afforestation project run by a community of vegans. That description doesn’t make it sound appealing at all. It really impressed us though. At Sadhana, they essentially took over a really arid part of land near Auroville that had nearly been turned into desert from intensive farming and converted it into a really lush forest by using very innovative conservation methods; all of which were sustainable and in tune with the local fauna and flora.
[...] Initially Sadhana Forest was created by Aviram and Yorit with their first daughter in tow as a place where they could practise conscious living as a family. They had never intended it to be a place for volunteers, but more a place where other like-minded families would join them in their mission to live self-sufficiently with nature whilst transforming a large area of severely eroded land. Yet immediately they received interest from some helping hands, and as word grew more and more volunteers appeared keen to get involved. Of course the couple were grateful of the help and happy that others had the desire to be involved in their same ideas, and so this eco-friendly, vegan community developed, and continues to grow.Visit the website here for more detailed information on the community and its projects:http://sadhanaforest.org/wp/about/ [...]
