We have finished the beautiful and interesting process of planning the new hut for Children’s Land, “The Idea Hut”.

The last month we were doing 3D models to develop new ideas and to allow the creativity to come out of our souls. 

We collected many different materials to build our 3D models. We used jack fruit and banana leaves, white glue, coconut broom sticks, plywood, colour thread, needles, small stones and a lot of good clay from our mud pool.

 Each of the children did a 3D model individually. We even had some boys that had a lot of motivation and they made their own models from home and brought them in!

In this phase, they developed different shapes and concepts with Manu (Aurovilian Architect), and they imagined numerous things.

They considered a variety of shapes such as circular, hexagonal, rectangular and triangular, and using different natural materials.

They also thought the hut should look out to the forest and have two floors. It must be a safe and fresh place with inner gardens, and a big room for activities with a smaller room for rest and meditation. They also had the inspiration to have a wall made of clay with creepers on it to give the hut a lot of beauty.

After collecting all the ideas, we did a huge 3D model together. It was really inspiring to see all the kids working in a group and bringing all the ideas into one while having unity as the final goal.

 We finished with an amazing 3D hut like we never seen before!

They were all very happy with the shape of the structure.

Marion, an architect and a Sadhana Forest volunteer, helped to transform the 3D model into a final plan with a lot of different views.

Now we are going to raise funds for this dream to become true as soon as possible.

The next step is to develop and plan a playground too!!!

Overall, the most important thing, in Children’s Land, is the process of learning! We want all the kids to have the ability to do this again themselves!
